The museum is owned and funded by the Town Council and is managed by a full-time Curator with support from a part-time Administrator and many hard working volunteers.

Friends of the Museum

Membership of Museum Friends Group entitles you to:

  • Attend lectures/talks nine times a year in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall at 9 Devon Square, Newton Abbot from 7.15pm.
  • A bi-annual newsletter.
  • An opportunity to attend Private Views of new exhibitions in the museum which happen annually, together with special event launches.

Membership cost - £8.00 a year

Museum Link Group


"The Museum Link" is a group of ex-GWR men who meet four/five times a year in the museum.

Many of them have been contributing to the growing Oral Archive within the museum's collection.
